So here we are up to date on Roderick, we've settled on one character to refine for class. I choose Roderick, because at this juncture his action and character gave me a greater chance to exploit an exaggerated range of action and expression.
The previous iteration, was lacking an action— it had personality, but not action. In addition to class work, I have been devouring the books of Preston Blair and Walt Stanchfield. And then I started acting out the pose and getting into character...
Here's a quote from Stanchfield that is quickly becoming my mantra...
"Draw ideas, not things; action, not poses; gestures not anatomical structures."
It's all about the story...
