Thorncreek Winery

For those who don't know, I have a jazz trio Intransit, that performs regularly. Lately i've been taking my sketchbook to draw on breaks— i'm leaving the mingling to the other fellas. Anyways this sketch was done on site while ducking this lady's rather large gentleman friend...

I added color on lunch today (I need some practice with watercolor...but that's what sketchbooks are for, right?)

Sweet! The water color is looking good!

Thanks guys! The drawing was really loose and free underneath and I wanted to make sure I didn't lose it when I added the ink and washes. The key on the color was keeping a limited palette and pushing the blue into the half tones of the flesh.

Oh, just found you through Rad Secrist's blog. Nice work! God gesture/linework!

Many thanks Ben!It's all about the gesture! That's where I'm living with drawing these days— "the gesture to tell the story" land
