Okay, so I just received my copy of Framed Ink, by Marcos Mateu-Mestre....and I like virtually everyone else in our entertainment art community was blown away. It's one thing to have ridiculously beautiful drawings, but the information, passion and depth of the material is excellent....
So being inspired by Marcos' inimitable use of light and shadow i created a suitable inking brush in Photoshop and doodled some sketches based off of Pirates of the Caribbean ( which has tremendous lighting in the film ). Now in addition to dissecting movies for their pacing and camera angles I will be memorizing lighting techniques...so much for watching films and animations out of pure entertainment any more! ;-)
